Rotor

Joel has described the concept of leaky abstractions. The major consequence of this for developers is that they have to understand levels below those that they usually work at. In the .NET world this requires a knowledge of how the CLR does the magic that it does. Whilst it is not the actual implementation Rotor it is an implementation and is hence a significant resource for .NET developers. Go check it out

New issue of Microsoft Architect Journal

Issue 3 is now available. There is only a single article and whilst it was an interesting subject it asked many more questions than it answered. It provides background on the need for the software industry to get better at building software. The comparisons to other industries was interesting but the article steps back from making any recommendations.
